Hume Day Traditions
Hume Day is an annual community festival hosted by the Leeds Ruritan Club in Hume, Virginia. The event traditionally celebrates rural lifestyle with activities such as equestrian ring jousting, vendors, kids games, music, and a world-famous Marriott Ranch BBQ lunch.

Primary Activities
Leeds Equestrian Ring Jousting Tournament: A highlight featuring riders of all ages attempting to spear small hanging rings with a lance at full gallop.
Homemade Apple Pie Contest: Competitive event with cash prizes for the winners.
Marriott Ranch BBQ: A traditional pork barbecue lunch is served; $15 for BBQ and $5 for hot dogs.
Community Fair: Includes raffle prizes, local vendors, artists, crafters, and music.
Children’s Entertainment: Organized games with prizes, and activities specifically for kids.
Community Impact
All proceeds from Hume Day fund local programs, including scholarships for graduating seniors at Fauquier County schools and the Reading is Fundamental literacy program. The event also supports the maintenance of the Leeds Ruritan Park, which serves as a central community space.
